AROUND THE CLASSES

This week in FSU we have carried on with the theme of our local area. We have mapped our journey to school, thinking about the sights we see on our way to school. We have looked at objects from a birds eye view which was very interesting! On Thursday we had a great day wondering around Appledore spotting different points of interest. We had a go at drawing the view from The Lookout and really enjoyed our ice cream. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all your support this year and have a lovely summer.

What a fantastic year we have had in Year 1. Looking back over the year it is obvious how much progress all the children have made, they deserve a big well done for all their hard work. This week we have continued to work hard, we finished our work on telling the time to the hour and half hour. We wrote questions for the seagulls and answered them, then we told the story of The Lighthouse Keeper's lunch from the perspective of Hamish the Cat. We also wrote a description of our perfect lunch. For Philosophy we thought of all the ways we have been successful this year and decided that we were all very successful! Thank you so much for all your support this year, I hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing summer holiday.

This week Lundy Puffins have been finishing off their learning and helping to tidy the classroom! They enjoyed watching the Year 5 production. What a great year Year 2 have had! Mrs Smale, Mrs O'Shea, Abby and I (Mrs Stanbury) have thoroughly enjoyed working with them and watching them make so much progress across the year, both academically and socially. They have been a great bunch to work with and their enthusiasm for learning is infectious. Thank you for all your help and support throughout the year.

HMS have had a busy last week in Year 4. We have finished some last pieces of work in Literacy, Science and Maths, and have also carried out final assessments for Maths, Science and Topic. The children did their kilometer run again to see if they could be their personal best. Later in the week, they enjoyed seeing Year 5's performance of Carmen. Year 4 did an excellent job sharing their Topic learning with the parents on Thursday which we had a great turn out for! Well done on a fantastic year HMS Echo and have a wonderful summer!

Year 5 have been completing their Arts Award this week and science. It has been a busy time but everyone has worked really hard. They also performed Carmen to the school and remembered it really well - such lovely singing. A big thank you to Mrs Smale for all her hard work with this. We look forward to sharing our Arts Award Booklets with you in September. We also enjoyed our swimming session at Skern. We hope that everyone has a lovely summer, enjoys the rest and comes back ready for learning in September.

This week has been the most emotional week of our lives. Leaving a school that you have been with for 8 years of your life is one of the hardest things that you will experience in life. We have had such a great time at this school and are sad to leave but are ready for what will come next in our lives. Swimming at Skern was one of the highlights of our week and our leavers assembly is one of the saddest. We’re so grateful for all you teachers have done for us over the years and have taught us.
